We
really enjoy what we do. But you know what? It’s really not all that
novel. We’re just following the footsteps of someone else.
That
someone is Jesus. He has a true passion for people. We’re just showing
it. 1st John 4:7 says “Let us love one another, for love comes from
God.”
Make no
mistake. We are a Christian ministry. We won’t hide the gospel. Acts 13:15
says, “Brothers, if you have a message of encouragement for the people, please
speak.” We do, and we will, with gentleness and respect.
If
it seems like we’re intentionally blurring the line between social
services and spiritual support, you’re right. This is God’s plan.
3rd John 1:2 says that God wants “our bodies and our souls
to prosper.”
You
see, everyone has two types of hunger—physical and spiritual.
Both need to be fed. We can meet physical needs. But only God can
meet spiritual needs.
We
strive to keep our encounters with people very personal. We shake
their hands, look in their eyes, give them a sack lunch, provide encouragement
and offer to pray with them.
We’ve
learned two things so far. First, people who need hope aren’t hard
to find. They’re everywhere. Second, we’ve learned that we can’t touch
the world until we extend our hands. That’s why we’ve taken action.
